A number poem about someone who, living in the mundane world, longs for holiness:

Forty-four looks within and listens,
Open to the whispers of the soul,
Remembering retreats, now long ago,
That gave him intimations of the whole.
Years may pass; the longing never lessens.

For such encounters, there can be no goal.
One stops one’s inner time within time’s flow
Until, now free of purposes and passions,
Returned to bliss, one can resume one’s role.
